LONDON, England – Dana White has responded to rumors regarding a shock clash between Shakur Stevenson and Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao landing on the Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua undercard.
The two British heavyweights are scheduled to meet at Principality Stadium, Cardiff on December 11 in a domestic barnburner more than a decade in the making.
But, no sooner was the headline fight announced did rumors swirl on what else is expected to land on a stacked card in the Welsh capital, live on Netflix.
The most surprising of those linked undefeated four-division champion Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) with 47-year-old Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 KOs), who has not boxed since his draw against Mario Barrios in July last year.
But, when asked if that fight could take place in Cardiff, White said: “Yeah, that’s not true. No. I don’t know where that came from.”
The Zuffa Boxing chief, who was speaking at the post-fight press conference at London’s Copper Box Arena following Johnny Fisher’s victory over Michael Pirotton, was also asked about another fight mooted for the 80,000-seater arena.
After deciding against fulfilling his obligations as mandatory challenger to WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney, 27-year-old Keyshawn Davis is said to be nearing a fight with former IBF junior-welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins.
When asked about that fight, White said: “Did we announce it?
“But that one is more than likely, yeah.”
